Christmas!!

Christmas 2013 was beautiful, peaceful and meaningful.  We enjoyed the whole month of anticipation and savored each thing God gave us this season.  We spent alot of time enjoying our warm cozy home.  We baked and read stories and used our hands for creativeness.  Christmas Eve we celebrated at Cape Bible Chapel with a night  service.  Grandma and Grandpa Cauble and Uncle John and Aunt Steph came to celebrate.  We enjoyed fun appetizers and desserts at our home and we had a gift exchange. It was a blessed time.  I cherish our health and our family and thank God for these gifts.  Christmas morning was slow and sweet.  The boys each received a few selected gifts and enjoyed what they got so much.  We kept it simple and this was such a blessing.  Thank you God for our greatest gift, our Savior!!

Operation Christmas Child

Our favorite service project during the Christmas season is to put together an Operation Christmas Child box.  This year we choose gifts for a young boy.  We packed our box with things like a drawing journal, colored pencils, a soccer ball, a slinky, a new tshirt, toothbrush and hot wheels cars.  We drew a picture and wrote and letter to him that told about where we were from and our family.  The boys included a picture of themselves.  We prayed for the boy that will receive our box and for the Operation Christmas Child Ministry.
Our box will travel many miles across ocean and continents!!  Exciting!! It really is a bigger blessing to give than receive!

snow flakes!!

One of our winter fun activities was to make our own crystal snowflakes!! This was cool!!
I get a kick every time my scientists put on their safety googles!!
We mixed Borax and hot boiling water together.  Then we made shaped pipecleaners into snowflakes, tied them to a string and dipped them into our mixture.  The hung in the mix in the jar for a day.

The end result were beautiful crystal "snowflakes".  (forgot the after picture!)
Amazing!! Science is fun!!

Happy Birthday Jesus

Our homeschool group had a fun birthday party for Jesus!  It was a sweet time to really bring focus that this season is to celebrate Him.  The kiddos loved the activities and fun manager snack and birthday cake!!  We are so blessed to have a group of friends to do fun things with! Happy Birthday Jesus!!!

Tis the Season!!

We spent the month of December focusing on Advent and the anticipation of Christs birth.  The boys really soaked up the Christmas story and we enjoyed our activities this month.
We counted down the days until Christmas with our Advent Calendar.  This was exciting for the boys to open each day.  We had a verse and a herseys kiss and a Christmas activity for the day.  We did many fun things like visited Bethlehem Village in Delta Mo (our favorite family tradition), watched the Christmas of Lights parade in Downtown Cape, drove through Cape County Park to see the Christmas lights, saw the lights and music show at the Clarks home in Kelso Mo,  Christmas Caroled, and stopped at the Hustsons Furniture display in Downtown Cape to see the train!

We used a wonderful Advent curriculum, Truth in the Tinsel, this year to study about the Christmas story.  Each day we made an ornament to put on the boys Christmas tree to help us remember what we had learned. They loved this!!
Our fun 4H field trip was to Meir Tree Farm in Jackson MO.
We learned how Christmas trees are grown and harvested and that there are many different types of Christmas trees.
This season was really intentional and meaningful and I appreciated this time spent with the kids in our homeschool getting ready for Christs birth celebration.

Snow Day!!

We had a beautiful snowfall in December. We bundled up and declared it a snow day!!

Exhilarating
Our time spent bundling up probably lasted longer than our time spent in the snow but it was worth it to see the excitement of snowfall on these boys faces. Thank you God for allowing us these moments, to see things exciting and new and from the eyes of a child.
